What does the local Kiwanis club spend their money on? [ Back to FAQs ] Are women members of Kiwanis?

What is the cost of being a Kiwanian?

Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of Nampa!

As Treasurer of the club, I’d like to take this opportunity to enumerate all of the dues, fees, and other charges each member of the club is required to pay.

  1. Upon initiation, a one time initiation fee of $75 is assessed.  This fee covers the cost of new member materials and a fee the club must pay to Kiwanis International.
  2. Annual dues of $90 are also assessed to new members in their first quarterly statement.  This amount is remitted on your behalf to the Utah Idaho District and to Kiwanis International.  Subsequently, annual dues are billed and remitted each year in October to maintain your membership in Kiwanis International.
  3. At the end of each quarter, members are assessed local quarterly dues of $82.  This money covers the cost of the weekly lunches and other administrative costs of the club.  It is charged whether you attended the lunch meetings or not.  Any excess money we have in our administrative account is often donated to the organizations we sponsor.
  4. Every year in July, the club has its annual Steak Fry.  This is the club’s largest major fundraising event of the year, and a significant amount of our charitable budget is attributable to its income.  As such, each member is charged for 8 adult and 4 child tickets, for a total of $120. This represents your minimum responsibility and unsold tickets are not refundable.  You may either pay for these tickets yourself, or sell them and remit the money to the club on your behalf.  All members are encouraged to sell as many tickets as possible and additional tickets are available upon request.
  5. In accordance with the club’s bylaws, in the unfortunate event that you leave the club, all required charges will continue to be assessed until written notice is given to the Board of Directors and the resignation is accepted by it.

We’re excited to have you as a member of the club, and look forward to serving the children of our community with you!

If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

Best regards,

Cory Wallace
